The terms governing your use of Scott's Shipping Services

1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Scott's Shipping Services website and the import, shipping, and delivery services we provide. By using our website or placing an order with us, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Scott's Shipping Services (referred to as "we", "us", or "our") is a South African import logistics business operating from Pretoria, Gauteng. "You" refers to the individual or entity using our website or services.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our website or services.

2. Our Services

We provide an end-to-end import service. This means we purchase goods on your behalf from international retailers, arrange international shipping, handle customs clearance through SARS, and deliver to your door in South Africa.

We do not offer the following:

  • Third-party shipping or freight forwarding for goods you have already purchased
  • Customs clearance as a standalone service
  • Storage or warehousing of goods in South Africa

Our standard courier service handles items up to 32 kg with a maximum single-package dimension of 1 m. Larger or heavier items may be available via freight — contact us for a quote.

3. Quotes & Pricing

All quotes are provided in South African Rand (ZAR) and are fully inclusive of the item cost, international shipping, customs duties, VAT, SARS clearance fees, and door-to-door delivery within South Africa.

Quotes are valid for 24 hours from the time of issue unless otherwise stated. Exchange rates, retailer pricing, and shipping costs can fluctuate, and an expired quote may need to be recalculated.

In rare cases where customs duties or taxes exceed our original estimate, we will absorb the difference. You will never be asked to pay more than your accepted quote.

4. Orders & Payment

An order is only placed with the international retailer once payment has cleared in full. For credit card payments this is immediate; for EFT payments, allow up to 48 hours for confirmation.

We accept payment via Peach Payments and Yoco (credit card, pay-by-bank, Mobicred) and direct EFT. Cash and cheque deposits are not accepted.

Once an order has been placed with the retailer, it cannot be cancelled or modified. If the retailer has not yet dispatched the item, we will make reasonable efforts to cancel on your behalf, but this is not guaranteed.

5. Shipping & Delivery

Estimated delivery is 10–21 days from the date of order placement. This estimate depends on retailer dispatch times, international transit, and customs processing. We are currently averaging approximately 14 days.

Once your parcel arrives in South Africa and clears customs, we dispatch same-day via The Courier Guy for final delivery. Delivery is typically overnight, though outlying areas may take an additional day.

Delivery estimates are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed. Delays caused by retailers, airlines, customs inspections, or courier services are beyond our control.

6. Customs & Compliance

All imports are cleared through the South African Revenue Service (SARS) in full compliance with applicable customs regulations. We handle all customs documentation, duty calculations, and clearance on your behalf.

Certain goods are restricted or prohibited under South African customs law. We reserve the right to decline any order for items that cannot legally be imported. For a detailed list of common restrictions, please refer to our FAQ page.

You confirm that any goods you request us to import are for personal use and are lawful to possess in South Africa.

7. Restricted Items

The following categories of goods cannot be shipped through our standard courier service:

  • Liquids, aerosols, gels, and powders (prohibited on passenger aircraft)
  • Loose lithium batteries and power banks
  • Weapons, ammunition, and self-defence items of any kind
  • Food, beverages, medicine, and dietary supplements
  • Alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, and related products
  • Biological materials and live organisms
  • Hazardous, flammable, or explosive materials

This list is not exhaustive. If you are unsure whether an item is restricted, ask before ordering.

8. Returns & Refunds

Because we purchase goods internationally on your behalf, returns are generally not possible once an order has been placed. International return shipping costs and restocking fees typically exceed the value of most items.

If an item arrives damaged or is materially different from what was ordered, notify us within 48 hours of delivery with photographs. We will assess the situation and, where appropriate, lodge a claim with the retailer or shipping provider on your behalf.

Refunds, where applicable, will be processed to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval.

9. Limitation of Liability

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to our services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific order in question.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption.

We are not responsible for delays, losses, or damages caused by third parties including international retailers, airlines, customs authorities, or local courier services, except where we have been negligent.

10. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, and design — is the property of Scott's Shipping Services and is protected under South African intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from this site without our written permission.

11. Privacy

We collect and process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Your data is used solely for order processing, communication, and service delivery.

We do not sell, share, or distribute your personal information to third parties except where necessary to fulfil your order (e.g., providing your delivery address to our courier partner).

12. Website Use

This website is provided on an "as is" basis. While we make every effort to keep information accurate and up to date, we do not guarantee that the site will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components.

Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience only. We have no control over and accept no responsibility for the content or practices of external sites.

You must be at least 18 years of age to use our services.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or our services will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
